Need Attendant Support?

DASSI provides attendant support to people with an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, physical disability, frail aged and any other person that has a medical condition or ailment that limits their movement and/or function.

 

DASSI's attendant care program delivers the following services:

  •   Domestic assistance – Light house cleaning, washing, stocking pantries and bed making.
 
  •   Counselling, support, information and advocacy – Assistance with understanding and managing situations, behaviours and relationships and general companionship.
 
  •   Personal care – Bathing, toilet use, eating, dressing and grooming.
 
  •   Specialist care - Gastrostomy feeds, Respiratory Support (ventilator and tracheotomy care), Bladder Care, Skin Care and Assistance with urinary appliances.
 
  •   Respite care – Assistance to carers by the provision of a substitute carer.
 
  •   Meals and other food services – Meals prepared and delivered or assistance with cooking in the home.
 
  •   Supervision – Providing guidance for another in a work, professional or personal context and/or minding a building and/or property
 
  •   Transport – Provide or coordinate access to community facilities and services.
 

DASSI does not undertake the following attendant care services: 

 
  •   Case management – Needs assessment and service coordination.
 
  •   Nursing care – Assistance with medication provision, continence and general nursing.
 
  •   Home maintenance – Maintaining the structure of the home and garden.
 
  •   Allied Healthcare – Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, advice from a dietician or nutritionist and speech therapy.
 
  •   Provision of goods and equipment – Hire or purchase of essential aids and equipment

However if a person is receiving attendant care from DASSI and it is identified that this person requires a service that DASSI does not provide, for example housing assistance, DASSI will refer that person to an agency that can service that need.

 

Attendant care services can be provided anywhere between 24 hours per day to two hours per day depending on approved funding and/or resources available.

 

DASSI's Attendant Care program is compliant with the:

•  Standards for Disability Services Victoria
•  National Standards for Disability Services
•  HACC National Service Standards
