DASSI's Vision
DASSIs vision is of a world where
human difference is anticipated, celebrated and where each person
will be a valued citizen, seizing opportunities, achieving goals
and dreams, according to personal choice, regardless of personal
support needs.
DASSI's
Purpose
The
principal purpose of DASSI is to provide direct assistance to
persons with a disability by: (a) providing a high quality attendant
support service tailored to meet the individual attendant support
needs of persons with a disability and (b) developing services
and programs for persons with a disability other than attendant
support to enhance their lifestyles and opportunities
DASSI
defines a person with a disability to be in accordance with the
Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) which is (a) total or
partial loss of the person's bodily or mental functions or (b)
total or partial loss of a part of the body or (c) the presence
in the body of organisms causing disease or illness or (d) the
presence in the body of organisms capable of causing disease or
illness or (e) the malfunction, malformation or disfigurement
of a part of a person’s body or (f) a disorder or
malfunction that results in the person learning differently from
a person without the disorder or malfunction or (g) a disorder,
illness, or disease that affects a persons thought processes,
perception of reality, emotions or judgment or that results in
disturbed behavior and includes a disability that (h) previously
exists or (i) previously existed but no longer exists or (j) may
exist in the future or (k) is imputed to a person.
